DIRECTOR MARÍA OLABARRI Montemorelos, Nuevo León María Olabarri Amaya grew up in Montemorelos, a city in the south of Nuevo León. From a young age, she showed interest in visual and narrative arts, which led her in 2022 to begin her studies in Language and Audiovisual Production, with a focus on cinema. A constant search has marked her academic path for tools that allow her to craft intimate and powerful stories through image and sound. During her training, she worked in the editing and post-production department of a U.S.-based production company located in Monterrey. She has also mainly collaborated as an assistant director on various projects, where she learned firsthand the rhythm and coordination required on set. Jara was her first project as a director, where she explored a personal vision through staging for the first time. This experience marked a turning point in her creative journey. Starting in September, she will begin her studies in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Salamanca, where she hopes to deepen her understanding of audiovisual language and expand her artistic perspective in a new cultural context.
